NATO's Rutte on Trump and Greenland: The President was right. There is an issue in the Arctic when it comes to China and Russia trying to gain access. We need to make sure that the Arctic stays safe. And it was a good discussion, because obviously Denmark is a sovereign country, Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, and we have to make sure that whatever investments the United States will make on Greenland. 3 month agoThe U.S. military is negotiating with Denmark to expand its presence in Greenland, seeking access to three additional sites — including former American bases at Narsarsuaq and Kangerlussuaq. Trump announced that the United States is sending a “hospital boat” to Greenland at the request of Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, who is currently serving as the White House’s special envoy to Greenland, with the post containing a picture of the USNS Mercy (T-AH-19). Only problem is, both of the U.S. Navy’s hospital ships, USNS Mercy (T-AH-19) and her sister ship USNS Comfort (T-AH-20), are undergoing repairs at Alabama Shipyard in Mobile
